At Arches Ferry Dental, we provide orthodontic care for patients between the ages of 12 and 25. Why should I choose Orthodontics for my Teen?
5Between the ages of 12 and 25, your child is going through major mental and physical changes. As they grow into adulthood, their bite and jaw are developing at a rapid pace, making it an ideal time for orthodontic intervention. Misaligned or crooked teeth can affect more than just the look of their smile, too. Crooked teeth are more difficult to clean, making them more likely to develop cavities or decay, and certain misalignments can even have an impact on nutrition. A healthy, straight smile can help teens boost their confidence and improve their overall health, setting them up for lifelong success and well being.

According to the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), about three in every four orthodontic patients are under the age of 18.

The Benefits of Orthodontics
There are a multitude of benefits to orthodontic treatment, from improved aesthetics to enhanced oral and overall health. If you think your teen may need orthodontic care, schedule their consultation today to find out how we can help them achieve a beautiful, healthy smile!
Boosted Confidence
Correcting misaligned teeth can significantly improve your teen’s self-esteem, allowing them to smile freely and with confidence.
Enhanced Oral Health
By aligning your teen’s teeth and correcting bite issues at this stage of development, their oral health will naturally improve. Straight teeth are easier to clean, reducing the risk of plaque buildup, gum disease, and tooth decay.
Long-Term Dental Stability
Orthodontic treatment ensures that your teen’s teeth are properly positioned, promoting a balanced bite and reducing the risk of future dental complications.
The Orthodontic Treatment Process
Consultation & Treatment Planning
Orthodontic treatment begins with a comprehensive consultation at Arches Ferry Dental with our Alpharetta dentist. Dr. Bell will perform a comprehensive exam, and get to know you and your teen, identify any issues, and create a custom treatment plan tailored to your child’s unique needs.
Applying Braces or Clear Aligners
If your teen is getting braces, we’ll use advanced digital scans to create custom brackets as well as a placement guide. With this guide, we can place all of the brackets at the same time with even pressure and ideal positioning, all in a fraction of the time it would take to place each one individually.
If your teen is getting Invisalign, their scans will be used to craft custom aligners. When the first few sets are complete, your teen will come in to check their fit, place any necessary attachments, and receive instructions for wearing the aligners.
Adjustments & New Aligners
Throughout the course of your teen’s orthodontic journey, they will return to the office for their regular cleanings and adjustments. If they are undergoing clear aligner therapy, we will provide several sets of aligners at each visit. Dr. Bell will monitor their progress to ensure the treatment is going as planned. Once the treatment is completed, Dr. Bell will remove the braces or attachments and provide a new retainer that will be worn to keep your teen’s newly straight smile in place.
